Roosevelt Lyn Colvin  |  Lead Pastor

The Reverend Roosevelt L. Colvin, born the first to Reverend Roosevelt Colvin and the late Laverne Tates Colvin, began his tenure of Pastor at Dominion Christian Centre in Houston, Texas on January 1, 2024.  A native Houstonian, Colvin received his education in the former North Forest Independent School District, where he played football, basketball and ran track.  He went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Master of Education in Administration from Prairie View A&M University. He also, holds a Masters of Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. In addition to his degrees, he is certified in Secondary Biology as well as holds a Principal certification from the Texas State Board for Educator Certifications.  

   

After his commencements from Prairie View A&M University, Rev. Colvin began studying at Howard University in the School of Dentistry but was drawn to the field of Education.  Therefore, in the fall of 1992 he began his illustrious career at his alma mater as a biology teacher.  He went on to serve the students at the CEP High School as an instructor and well as the Compass School as an Instructional Leader.  While teaching he was recognized as M.B. Smiley's Teacher of the Month as well as Teacher of the Year. Ultimately, he was recognized as Teacher of the Year and an Outstanding Alumni for North Forest ISD. In addition to his teaching roles, Colvin has been Assistant Principal at East Houston Elementary School, Tidwell Elementary School, Hilliard Elementary School, and Principal of Roger's Elementary School.  He also served as a Coordinator at North Forest High School.  Currently he serves the Aldine Independent School District as an Assistant Principal at Knippel Educational Center.  

   

Rev. Colvin has been a contributor to the community and the household of faith through various avenue and on various levels.  In the community he has served as a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America, North Forest ISD Community Parade committee member, helped to organize his School's Community Garden, and had the privilege to work with Target Hunger.   He has served as Associate Minister at Youth and Age Center, The Texas State Youth Director, and Associate Pastor at Dominion Christian Centre. He was ordained as a minister in 1998 and has taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and various other Bible classes.

 

I thank GOD for the opportunity to serve the body of Christ and the community. None of these things would be possible without the help of the LORD and the people that he placed in my life.  I humbly standing on the shoulders of others who have gone before me.
